“N-no. Jason didn’t. I had momentarily forgotten my place is all.” She froze at the mention of alerting Garcia. “There’s no need, it is their job.” Anita gave her a tiny smile. “I think Mr Pecatti is an alright person. Apologetic too much, but he is okay.”
Nika nodded solemnly. Anita said “their job” so it was narrowed down to collectors and security. But their mentality was already questionable, so Nika decided it would be best to let it drop. She rubbed the frayed edges of her shirt between her thumb and forefinger, and looked at Anita “He is apologetic? I see”. She opened her mouth to say more, but shut it quickly. She thought about him more than she should, if she was being honest.
” ‘I’m sorry’. That’s the last thing he tells me before he leaves. I do not know why.” Anita had seen the glance Jason gave her when she spotted them…together? at the bar. He looked to have enjoyed Nika’s company and fullheartedly regreted having to leave. “But, I think you would not take my word for it and make your own judgement of him.”
